8-Bit Dungeon Deluxe Tileset/Sprites
A downloadable asset pack for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
This tileset and sprite pack contains over 130 images and is inspired by my days programming in BASIC on my Commodore 64 computer. Many of the games I created for that used 'custom characters' which were basically re-designed font character sets using 8x8 sprites. I expect at some point I'll create a little demo game using these, but in the mean time feel free to download and use them in any project you like.
This pack of sprites and tiles contains over 130 items and animation frames. There are tiles for brick dungeons and for cave style dungeons with lots of different tiles so you can have a variety of looks to your dungeons/levels.
This pack includes:
- A fully animated, retro, main player character with running, climbing and rope swinging animations.
- Lots of brick styles including flat, slanted, solid and breakable
- Lots of animated enemies including bats, spiders, bugs, cyclops and more
- Lots of static enemies including fire, arrows, spikes and more
- Lots of treasures including coins, jewels, gold, chests and more
- Other interactive items like doors, switches and buttons
- Scenery items like grass, rocks, stalagmites, spider webs and more
File Formats:
- Vector (EPS and SVG)
- PNG (with transparent backgrounds)
- A sprite sheet and XML file is included
Once purchased these assets can be used in any project, free or commercial.

Thanks for this tileset - I used it for my first Playdate game that I've just released here https://solocodo.itch.io/platformer
That looks awesome, I’m going to check it out! I Don’t have a Playdate to use it on, but it looks like you’ve got some great reviews, very nice!
Hi Jamie, It's not 100% the same but you can play the game on the Playdate SDK simulator here on Windows/Mac/Linux
I'm actually happy to send you a free copy if you send me an email to jm.[my itch user name][at]gmail.com (obviously converting the bits) I'll pass you a download key.
